Taylor Swift: 2012′s Most Charitable Celebrity

Posted by admin on Dec 30th, 2012 • Articles ,News0 Comments

Despite leaving a trail of human suffering behind her, country star Taylor Swift is never ever ever going to hear anything bad about her charity spirit.

Swift is still mopping up 2012 honors for her charitable giving, having been named no. 1 on the “20 Celebs Gone Good” list put together by the non-profit group DoSomething.org. The 23-year-old received praise from the group for being the youngest person to ever to get the Ripple of Hope Award from the Robert F. Kennedy Center, donating $4 million to the Country Hall of Fame Museum, and for her work with children who have cancer.

Right behind Swift on the list are actress and singer Miley Cyrus, herself praised for work with Saving SPOT! Dog Rescue, observing TOMS’ One Day Without Shoes challenge, and other charity work.

Channing Tatum, Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Robin Roberts also made the cut.

The Huffington Post reports that Swift was also honored earlier this year by First Lady Michelle Obama, who presented Swift with The Big Help Award during Nickelodeon’s 25th annual awards show Saturday night in Los Angeles.

Swift has donated to Swift has donated to a number of large charities, including the Elton John AIDS Foundation, the UNICEF Tap Project, Oxfam International,Habitat For Humanity, MusiCares and Feeding America. The singer has also performed a number of benefit concerts, including for the Food Bank For New York City, the Reading, Writing & Rhythm Foundation, Christmas for Kids and Shriners Hospitals for Children.

Our thanks to Taylor Swift for being such a stand-out lady and celebrity when it comes to charitable giving.
