For the sixth year, Taylor Swift has been named the songwriter/artist of the year by the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI). As a result, she has set a new record for performing artists who have received the award.
The honor recognizes the “most prolific and productive Nashville writers who achieved Top 30 singles during the past year.” Swift placed 14 Top 30 songs on the charts from July 2012 to July 2013. The award will be presented Sunday (Oct. 13) in Nashville.
In addition, the Taylor Swift Education Center at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum will hold its grand opening Saturday morning. Swift donated $4 million for the museum’s expansion. Swift’s six NSAI Awards will be on display in the foyer of the learning center.
The Taylor Swift Educational Center will encompass parts of two floors and feature three classrooms, a learning lab and a state-of-the-art children’s exhibit gallery. The classroom spaces will be adjacent to a visible design studio. The space will allow students to observe museum curators at work. The children’s gallery, situated on the second floor, will be a dedicated exhibit space for young patrons and will be filled with hands-on, interactive exhibits.
While the classrooms and learning labs will open on Saturday, the museum’s new gallery space is scheduled to open in March 2014.
Also next year, Swift will perform five shows at the O2 Arena in London. After selling out four shows, Swift added a fifth date on Monday (Oct. 7). Those concerts will be held on Feb. 1, 2, 4, 10 and 11.

Taylor, dubbed ‘a true arena-rock goddess’ by Rolling Stone, recently wrapped up the US leg of THE RED TOUR with three consecutive sold-out nights at the Bridgestone Arena in her hometown of Nashville.
The North American portion of The Red Tour saw Taylor play to more than 1.36 million fans over 66 shows (including 13 stadium stops) in 47 cities in 29 states and 3 provinces. On a number of these nights Taylor was notably joined on stage by some very special guests for an array of show-stopping collaborations – from Jennifer Lopez and Ellie Goulding at Staples Center in LA through to Carly Simon at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass.
Taylor’s THE RED TOUR performance features two multi-level stages, elaborate costumes, dancers, aerialists and numerous changing sets, giving everyone in the venue an excellent seat. Taylor plays electric guitar, banjo, piano and acoustic guitar during the show, and her set features numerous songs from her record breaking album, RED, in addition to new takes on several fan favourites.
This November will see Taylor take THE RED TOUR to Australia and New Zealand, where she will become the first solo female artist in 20 years to undertake a national stadium tour of Australia, with the last being Madonna’s Girlie Show tour in 1993.
Taylor’s fourth studio album, RED, reached no 1 at iTunes in over 50 countries around the globe. RED has sold over half a million copies and spawned 4 top 10 singles in the UK alone. In the US, RED is certified 4 x Platinum, while worldwide it has sold in excess of 5.8 million. With RED Taylor becomes the first artist since the Beatles (and the only female artist in history) to log six or more weeks at no. 1 in the US charts with three consecutive studio albums.
Described by The Times as a ‘rare talent’, Taylor Swift is one of the top 5 selling digital music artists worldwide, and is the top-selling digital artist in country music history. Taylor recently received two new entries into the 2014 book of Guinness World Records, earning the title of fastest selling digital single for ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’ and for being the first solo female with two one-million selling weeks on the US album chart.

One duet performance is just not enough! Jennifer Lopez and Taylor Swift are set to collaborate on a new song, a source tells Us Weekly. The two ladies will be joining forces for a new track that will appear on Lopez’s next album — her eighth — due out early next year.
“Both of them are huge fans of each other and excited to work together!” the source tells Us.
Swift, 23, and Lopez, 44, finalized the plan after the “On the Floor” singer came out as Swift’s last guest performer on her final Red Tour show at L.A.’s Staples Center. During the Aug. 25 performance, the two sang Lopez’s 2002 hit “Jenny from the Block.”
“Sang Jenny From the Block with @JLo tonight at Staples Center. STILL FANGIRLING OUT ABOUT IT,” the “I Knew You Were Trouble” singer tweeted after the show. Lopez replied: “@taylorswift13 had so much fun with you tonight!!! #RedTourLA #jennyfromtheblock #hairbrushsongs.”
